Welcome to Book It. These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Book It’s website and monthly book subscription service (“the Service”). By subscribing to or using the Service, you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms.
If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not use the Service.
1. DEFINITIONS
For the purpose of this document:
“Book It”, “we”, “us”, and “our” refer to the Book It subscription service operating in South Africa.
“Subscriber”, “you”, and “your” refer to any person who purchases or uses the Service.
“Subscription” refers to our monthly book plan where subscribers receive one book per month.
“Website” refers to www.[yourdomain].co.za.
2. SUBSCRIPTION SERVICE
2.1 Book It offers a monthly subscription service where subscribers receive one book each month from a curated selection of three titles.
2.2 The monthly subscription fee is R450, unless otherwise updated.
2.3 The Service is only available within South Africa.
3. BILLING & PAYMENT
3.1 By subscribing, you authorise Book It to charge your chosen payment method on a recurring monthly basis.
3.2 All payments are processed in advance for the upcoming month.
3.3 If payment fails, you will be notified. If payment is not resolved within 7 days, your subscription may be paused or cancelled.
3.4 Prices are subject to change. Subscribers will receive at least 30 days’ notice before price adjustments take effect.
4. MONTHLY BOOK SELECTION
4.1 Each month, Book It releases a curated list of three book options.
4.2 Subscribers are required to select their preferred book by the communicated deadline.
4.3 If no selection is made before the deadline, Book It may:
Automatically select a book on your behalf, or
Apply a predefined default-book policy (to be confirmed by you).
4.4 Selections cannot be changed after the cutoff date.
5. SHIPPING & DELIVERY
5.1 Delivery is included in the subscription fee.
5.2 Book It delivers nationwide within South Africa.
5.3 Estimated delivery times vary by location.
5.4 Once a parcel has been handed to the courier, Book It is not responsible for courier delays.
5.5 Lost or damaged parcels will be replaced where reasonable after investigation.
6. CANCELLATIONS
6.1 Subscribers may cancel their subscription at any time.
6.2 Cancellations must be submitted before the next billing date to avoid being charged for the following month.
6.3 Cancelled subscriptions remain active for the remainder of the paid month; pro-rated or partial refunds are not provided.
7. PAUSING THE SUBSCRIPTION
7.1 Subscribers may request to pause their subscription for one month at a time.
7.2 Pause requests must be submitted before the next billing cycle begins.
7.3 No book will be shipped during a paused month, and no payment will be taken.
8. REFUNDS & RETURNS
8.1 Due to the nature of curated book subscriptions, Book It does not offer refunds for:
Change of mind
Already owning the selected book
Failure to select a book before the deadline
8.2 Refunds may be issued only in cases of:
Duplicate billing
Incorrect charges
Non-delivery where Book It is at fault
8.3 Replacement of damaged items is evaluated case-by-case.
9. STOCK AVAILABILITY & SUBSTITUTIONS
9.1 In rare cases, a selected book may become unavailable.
9.2 If this happens, Book It may:
Offer an alternative title
Provide one of the remaining monthly options
Offer a credit for the next month
9.3 Book It reserves the right to make final decisions on substitutions.
10. COMMUNICATION
10.1 By subscribing, you agree to receive essential communication relating to:
Book selections
Billing notices
Service updates
Delivery information
10.2 You may opt out of marketing communication, but not service-essential notifications.
11. PRIVACY & DATA PROTECTION
11.1 Book It collects only the personal information required to process orders, manage subscriptions, and deliver books.
11.2 Personal information is handled according to the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
11.3 Information may be shared with trusted third parties only for payment processing or courier delivery.
11.4 Book It does not sell or trade personal information.
12. SERVICE MODIFICATIONS
12.1 Book It reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue parts of the Service without prior notice.
12.2 Material changes to Terms will be communicated at least 30 days in advance.
13. TERMINATION BY BOOK IT
Book It may suspend or terminate subscriptions where:
Fraud is suspected
Abuse of the service occurs
Payments repeatedly fail
Terms are violated
14. LIABILITY
14.1 Book It is not responsible for delays caused by third-party couriers or external conditions beyond our control.
14.2 Book It is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages related to the use of the Service.
15. GOVERNING LAW
